What can a Naturopathic Physician do?

Naturopathic physicians are licensed primary care doctors who use a system of medicine that specializes in natural therapies. Dr. Bruce Dickson is licensed by the Oregon Board of Naturopathic Examiners to offer primary care in Oregon. He can provide services such as diagnostic testing, physical exams, diagnostic imaging, homeopathy, nutrition, botanical medicine, IV therapy, and much more.

Naturopathic Physicians attend a four year post-graduate accredited medical program and are trained as primary care providers. To find out more information about Naturopathic medical schools, visit the naturopathic organization, the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians, AANP. Naturopathic Physicians differ from medical doctors by their approach to healing. Naturopathic physicians use treatments that support and stimulate the body’s own ability to heal and they are able to treat a large variety of conditions effectively.

The treatments used by Dr. Bruce Dickson include homeopathy, clinical nutrition, IV therapy, natural hormone replacement therapy, physical medicine including prolotherapy, manipulation and physiotherapy, herbal medicine, nutritional supplements, and many more. Naturopathic physicians also practice integrative medicine and understand when a health concern needs additional intervention. In Oregon, Naturopathic Physicians have a fairly large formulary and can prescribe certain drugs when necessary. Referals to specialist are made when needed.
